Originally used as an anesthetic, ketamine is a medicine that increases neuroplasticity which can help heal the mind. Research and countless studies over the past 50 years have shown that ketamine, along with psychotherapy, is a safe and effective treatment for those seeking help with mental health conditions. Ketamine may be particularly effective at treating anxiety, PTSD, stress, and depression. Using ketamine for chronic pain may also provide benefits. Esketamine, an enantiomer of ketamine, has been approved by the FDA for mental health disorders. However, off-label use of traditional ketamine is not FDA-approved for mental health disorders and is prescribed off-label in patients with treatment-resistant mental health disorders.
Ketamine Therapy
TREATMENT OVERVIEW
How it Works
Chronic stress weakens neural connections in the brain over time. Depression actually decreases the number of synapses in the brain.
Ketamine works directly to restore these connections. It binds to the NMDA receptor and releases a glutamate surge. This in turn releases growth factors, like BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor), which help make new synaptic connections and pave healthier thought patterns in the brain.
Benefits
In clinical studies, Ketamine is an alternative treatment for anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance use. Unlike SSRI’s and other more widely used antidepressants, Ketamine acts quickly. Patients generally report the following benefits:
-
Improved neural disruptions caused by chronic stress in the brain
-
Improvements in depression symptoms
-
Improvements in anxiety symptoms
-
Improvements in PTSD symptoms
Route of Administration
Ketamine therapy is administered at home.
We currently offer the following sublingual routes of administration:
-
Rapidly Dissolving Tablets (RDT)
-
Troches
-
Lollipops (also compounded with oxytocin and NAD+)

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Ketamine Therapy
How much does it cost?
Ketamine therapy involves monthly appointments at $250.
The cost of medication is not included in this fee. Oral ketamine costs vary between $30 to $90 each month depending on your dosage and strength.
What is the dose of ketamine?
Dosage varies between people. Initial doses are based on previous experience with prescription ketamine and your gender, age, weight, and height. Generally, a starting dose is 200mg at each session.
Dosage can change depending on your mental health screening scores and your reports at each follow-up appointment.
Can I drive after using ketamine?
No, you should refrain from working, parenting, driving, or operating heavy machinery for at least 12 hours after your session. This is why we recommend completing each session at bed time, allowing you to sleep after the medication wears off.
Will I experience side effects?
Serious side effects are rare, however some patients do experience nausea or difficulty sleeping. Our providers can prescribe nausea medication if this occurs.
Is ketamine legal?
Yes, ketamine has been used in medicine for decades. The FDA approved a esketamine, a ketamine enantiomer, for the treatment of mental health disorders. our providers prescribe compounded ketamine, not esketamine, due to wider availability and at-home accessibility.
Why is your protocol different than other clinics?
Our goal is to integrate all aspects of our patients lives into their treatment protocol. For mental health disorders, we understand that our lifestyle, thinking patterns, and underlying physiology can influence our mental health. We know that the only way we can truly help you is if we address all of these aspects, not just prescribe medication.
